A US Airways plane landing in Los Angeles
US Airways, which merged with American Airlines last year, announced that it joined American’s trans-Atlantic joint business venture with British Airways, Iberia, and Finnair. US Airways will be an affiliate member of the partnership until its operations have been fully integrated with American Airlines.
Under the venture, the five airlines will share revenue and coordinate schedules and fares on trans-Atlantic flights between North America and Europe.
The addition of US Airways brings 28 new trans-Atlantic routes to the venture, including nonstop flights from the United States to 18 European cities.
American Airlines, British Airways, and Iberia first partnered in October 2010, while Finnair joined in 2013.
American Airlines Group, which includes both American Airlines and US Airways, operates an average of nearly 6,700 flights a day to 339 destinations in 54 countries from its major U.S. hubs.
All five airlines in the venture are members of the oneworld alliance.
