US Airways announced the launch of a new codeshare agreement with Air Berlin.   Under the agreement, both airlines are allowed to place their code on select transatlantic flights operated by the other carrier.

US Airways can now place its code on Air Berlin-operated flights from Chicago, Miami, and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to Berlin, as well as on Air Berlin flights to Düsseldorf from Los Angeles, Miami, JFK, and Fort Myers, Florida.

Meanwhile, Air Berlin is allowed to place its code on US Airways flights from Frankfurt to Charlotte and Philadelphia, from Zurich to Philadelphia, and from Munich to Philadelphia, as well as on connecting flights from both Charlotte and Philadelphia to Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, and Phoenix.

In addition, the agreement allows members of both airlines’ frequent flyer programs to earn points on flights operated by either carrier.

US Airways and Air Berlin are both members of the oneworld alliance. US Airways, which joined oneworld as an affiliate member this March following its merger with American Airlines, plans to begin additional codeshare agreements with other oneworld members in the upcoming months.
