American Airlines announced changes to its operations at Los Angeles International Airport effective Thursday.
All American Airlines flights operated by US Airways have moved to Terminal 6 from Terminal 3. This includes ticketing, check-in, gates, baggage services, and customer service. US Airways check-in counters are located on Level 2 of the terminal and flights will operate out of gates 60, 61, 62, and 63.
The move allows passengers departing or arriving from Terminal 6 to connect to American’s flights in Terminal 4 thanks to an underground connector between the two terminals. The airline is also operating shuttle service to Terminal 4 and the Remote Terminal for American Eagle flights.
The change makes it possible for passengers to access the Admirals Club and Flagship Lounge in Terminal 4 as well as a new Admirals Club location at the American Eagle terminal.
American also began operating new non-stop service from LAX to Tampa, Florida on Thursday and recently said it will begin offering a second daily non-stop flight from LAX to London Heathrow, beginning in March 2015. The Fort Worth-based airline began non-stop flights from LAX to Alberta, British Columbia, Edmonton, San Antonio, and Vancouver in October.
Los Angeles International is one of the airports at which American operates its Cadillac tarmac transfer service that escorts high-value customers with tight transfer times to their next gate of departure in a Cadillac CTS, Escalade, or SRX.
