A JetBlue aircraft at JFK
JetBlue Airways announced three new routes from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
Starting June 19, the New York-based airline will offer non-stop service to Charleston, South Carolina; Hartford, Connecticut; and Nassau, Bahamas from Reagan National. The new routes are part of the airline’s plan to offer 30 departures from Reagan National by the end of the year. The carrier will also add a second flight from Washington to Tampa, Florida, starting July 2, 2014.
JetBlue will operate two daily flights to both Charleston and Hartford as well as once-daily service to Nassau.
The new routes are made possible due to the new slots the airline acquired from American Airlines after its merger with US Airways in December. The combined airline, now the world’s largest, was required to divest numerous slots as part of a deal to gain approval for the merger from the Department of Justice.
The airline expects to announce additional routes from Reagan National later in the year.
