Mesa Air Group announced it will shutter its Go Hawaiian operation effective April 1 of this year.

Passengers booked on Go Hawaiian between April 1 and June 30 of this year will either be re-booked on Hawaiian Airlines or receive a refund.

The decision was an “extremely difficult” one according to Mesa CEO Jonathan Ornstein.   “We believe it is in the best interest of Mesa’s long term strategic objectives.” he said in a statement.

The Phoenix-based airline will redeploy Go Hawaiian aircraft to mainland codeshare operations with United Airlines and US Airways, which comprise 98% of Mesa’s business.

In June of this year, United will add 30 of Mesa’s Embraer E-175 aircraft to its operations. Additionally, US Airways will add four of Mesa’s Bombardier CRJ-900 aircraft, having already added nine in 2013.
