Breakfast in business class on an AA international flight
American Airlines announced multiple changes at its US Airways subsidiary that will further bring the carrier’s offerings in line with American’s.
The Dallas-based airline said it is doing away with the name “Envoy” and will use “Business Class” instead. It is also going to refer to coach as “Main Cabin” going forward.
On international flights all business-class passengers will receive Bose QuietComfort 15 noise-canceling headphones. In addition, on Boeing 757 and 767 aircraft, business-class passengers will be provided with Samsung Galaxy Tab tablets, which have 60 movies as well as a variety of television and audio programs stored on them.
On domestic flights, first-class service is being dramatically overhauled. All flights will feature new glassware. On flights of less than one hour in duration, passengers will receive a beverage and snack. On flights between one and two hours, flight attendants will offer what the airline calls a “signature” snack basket. On flights that are two hours to two and three quarter hours in length, a new snack basket called “Lite Bites” will be offered. This includes fresh fruit, breakfast cakes, and finger sandwiches. It will also be offered on flights departing after 8:00 p.m. local time.
US Airways will offer meals on flights between two hours 45 minutes and three hours 30 minutes from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. On flights linking Minneapolis to Charlotte and Philadelphia, breakfast will be served from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., followed by lunch from 9:00 a.m. through 1:30 p.m. Dinner service starts at 4:00 p.m. and runs through 8:00 p.m. In these cases, Lite Bites are offered after 8 p.m.
On flights lasting longer than four hours 30 minutes, passengers will receive a meal and a snack basket if the flight operates between 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Later flights will receive Lite Bites snacks and a continental breakfast box.
For passengers in the main cabin on flights between two hours 45 minutes and three hours 30 minutes, a selection of offerings including a fruit and cheese plate and sandwiches will be available for purchase.
