Hawaiian continued to have the best on-time performance of any U.S. airline
Airline flights in the United States brought more passengers to their destinations on time in July and cancelled fewer flights than in recent months.
The U.S. Department of Transportation released figures for the nation’s largest airlines on Wednesday showing that 75.6% of flights arrived on time in July, an increase compared to 73.1% in July 2013 as well as to 71.8% in June of this year.
Hawaiian Airlines continued as the airline with the best on-time performance and fewest cancellations in July, followed by Delta Air Lines and Alaska Airlines in second and third respectively.
For the first six months of 2014, among mainline carriers, Hawaiian held the top spot, trailed by Alaska in the number two spot and Virgin America in third. Delta was fourth, followed by American Airlines in fifth.
The airline with the worst on-time performance in the first half of the year was Southwest Airlines, which held the spot three times, while JetBlue Airways had the poorest on-time performance in July.
Hawaiian’s flights arrived on schedule 93.3% of the time in July and its cancellation rate was 0.1%, a mere five cancellations out of 6,808 flights.
